We're thrilled to share that our first Bella Rio Bourbon Signing at Kennay Farms Distilling this past Friday was a tremendous success. The event brought together fans, community members, and bourbon enthusiasts for an unforgettable evening celebrating craftsmanship, collaboration, and creativity.
What made this event especially impactful is that by hosting it directly at our distillery, we were able to cut out the distributor and retailer margins—allowing our company to capture a significantly higher profit margin. This direct-to-consumer approach not only maximized revenue potential from bourbon bottle sales, but it also opened up revenue streams from several other sources: drink sales, merch sales, and other product sales (gin, vodka, whiskey, etc.). Local food from our favorite restaurant and art from Shannon MacDonald was also sold on-site.
Between tickets sales and revenue generated at Kennay Farms during the event, total gross revenue reached $19,726.89 from this 3-hour event, with our net profit totaling $12,226.98. This was a 61.98% profit margin night, and for comparison on how high this profit margin is, a typical restaurant/bar only sees an average margin between 5-10%.
The reason we've achieved this extraordinary profit margin is through utilizing a nearly vertical monopoly—from seed to glass. The Kennay Farms Distilling family are sixth generation farmers, and the raw materials used to make our products comes directly from their farms. The raw material is then produced at our distillery, with our team managing the labor to create the final product. And during this event, we were also the retailer selling the final product. This integration cuts out additional third-party manufacturers, distributors, and retailers—adding their would-be profit to ours.
The incredible turnout has sparked meaningful discussions on how we can further expand and strengthen our revenue streams through our joint venture with Kennay Farms Distilling. We believe that the distillery holds a high-profit-potential that we've yet to access, and we'll keep everyone updated on our progression towards achieving this goal. Part of this goal includes making Kennay Farms Distilling a destination site and expanding open hours to capture more revenue, including tours and more events.
Our focus moving forward is to leverage the momentum from this success to enhance brand equity, broaden our market presence, and create multiple revenue streams through the continued collaboration between the Bella Rio Brand House and Kennay Farms Distilling.
