We are proud to announce that our Bella Rio Washington Recipe Rye Whiskey has officially received label approval from the Alcohol and Tobacco Tax and Trade Bureau (TTB). This milestone represents a major step forward as we move closer to bringing this historically inspired brand to market.
The Washington Recipe was developed as a tribute to America’s first president and one of the nation’s earliest distillers. Whiskey ledgers from 1798 and 1799 documenting Washington’s original rye production inspired this brand, and this spirit reflects both historical authenticity and modern craftsmanship.
Washington’s documented mash bill consisted of approximately 60% rye, 35% corn, and 5% malted barley, producing a bold and spice-forward whiskey reflective of its time. Our variation mellows out the spice by reducing the rye and corn and introducing in wheat.
The whiskey is currently entering its final development phase, which includes optimizing the label for print production, coordinating distributor partnerships, and preparing retail allocation pre-sales.
The timing of this release is especially meaningful, aligning with the nation’s celebration of 250 years of American independence and the 100-year anniversary of the historic Hub Theater, now home to Kennay Farms Distilling.
“Receiving TTB approval is an exciting step for this project,” - Andy Roiniotis, VP. “It moves us closer to sharing a whiskey that celebrates American history, craftsmanship, and the legacy of one of the nation’s earliest distillers.”
